The name „The Continuum“ for the artist duo Sabine Kühner and Matthias Kühner has only been published recently. The two have been working together for many years.

Sabine Kühner is a visual artist with her own studio since 2010. She has been an autodidact before studying with teachers like Markus Lüpertz, Pia Fries, Jerry Zeniuk and others. She paints, draws, writes and always had a strong affinity to technology. She is influenced by formative life events and a decades-long exploration of the themes of color, form, and togetherness in relationships. Her artistic practice uses a language of expressive gesture and color in the style of abstract expressionism and color field painting. In doing so, she explores the limits of what is possible on canvas, reflecting the sometimes exuberant diversity of our world.

She is represented by Kelly-McKenna Gallery, Spring Lake, NJ, USA. In 2024 she spent 3 months in Jersey City for an artist residency per invitation of the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation. In 2021 she won the first price of the City Holzkirchen for a permanent installation in public space (58 und ich).

Her works have been acquired by collectors in Germany and the USA and she took part in numerous exhibitions.

 

Matthias Kühner always had a strong interest in cultural and societal developments, science and technology. His mode of expressing his views is mainly writing and giving speeches. He worked across multiple cultures globally gaining insights into psychologies and sociologies from varying angles.

He is an alumnus of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.

 

Both have been living at various places in Germany as well as in the USA and Sweden.

They have been working together on art projects in various forms since years until 2023 when the idea of Pigment to Pixel was born. This led to the works presented on this website with more in the making.
